The incredible history of the man destined to be in pieces (and the connection to one of the biggest military scandals ever)

John Wayne Bobbitt, a former marine, became famous when his ex-wife, Lorena Bobbitt, removed his penis with a Ginsu knife in 1993 after he raped and abused her for years (for many of us, he had it coming). She was acquitted on the reason of insanity (even the jury agreed he had it coming). And he was later convicted of rape but acquitted as well. The whole country followed her trial with interest: after all, it is not every day a person removes the penis of someone else like that. His penis was thrown out of the car’s window, later found and, eventually, successfully reattached.

For a generation (Generation X, mostly) the name “Bobbitt”, more specifically Lorena Bobbitt, became somewhat a synonym for a threat to remove someone’s penis, as in “If you cheat on me, I will go Lorena Bobbitt on you”. Seriously. At that time, everybody knew what the name was about.

If this whole incident wasn’t odd enough, he went on to form an unsuccessful band named The Severed Parts. Yes. He even became a “porn star”, believe it or not, taking part in two adult films: John Wayne Bobbitt Uncut and Frankenpenis.
